| The Torah Story
presents a Christian reading of the first five books of the Bible. The central
interpretation is that the Torah story is the beginning of the gospel. This
book provides full-color student-friendly access to Genesis, Exodus,
Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. It is ideally suited as a textbook for an
introductory course on the Pentateuch, or a survey of the Hebrew Bible with an
emphasis on the Pentateuch. Each chapter begins and ends with helps for
accessibility and interaction (click on back cover for details).
From the back cover: “A refreshingly new approach to the Torah—neither an
introduction nor a commentary—The Torah
Story provides a model of how to read Scripture intertextually. It leaves
no doubt as to the overarching unity of the message and composition of the
Pentateuch. Eugene H. Merrill, PhD Distinguished Professor of Old Testament Studies Dallas Theological Seminary
“Gary Schnittjer demonstrates his skills as a master teacher
and superb scholar, effectively combining basic information and advanced subject
matter. Schnittjer’s blending of traditional evangelical convictions and
current issues makes the volume very engaging. Paul R. House Associate Dean and Professor of Divinity Beeson Divinity School | |
